What Bipolar Disorder Means To Me
What does it really mean to live with bipolar disorder? I don't know if there's a universal understanding of that as we're each different and bipolar disorder can affect each of us in different ways.
In this video, I share what bipolar 2 disorder means to me and disclose a personal story about the affect it has had on my life.
When I was in high school, my peers and I had such high hopes and plans for the future. However, life had its plan. Shortly after I received my diploma, I was involuntarily placed in a mental hospital. It was as if a diagnosis of bipolar 2 disorder meant my life was over in a lot of ways. My dreams of living an authentic and meaningful life were over.
But my attitude and life changed for the better after I stopped listening to the noise around me that persuaded me to define bipolar with disdain. Bipolar disorder means that my mind was crafted differently than others and that is not such a bad thing. My hope is that others can embrace their mind and define bipolar disorder on their terms.
What does bipolar mean to you? How has bipolar impacted or changed your life? Please share your thoughts and comments below or do a response video and send it into info@ healthyplace.com. Thanks!
