Bipolar Disorder and Finding the Right Job
Finding a suitable job when you live with bipolar disorder is difficult, so I want to share my experience with the job search after my diagnosis of bipolar 2 disorder.
I started working a couple months after I left the mental hospital. I was 19 years old and knew that I needed a job that was flexible. I was good with people, specifically children, and found jobs as a nanny and waitress. As I became better at understanding and managing by bipolar symptoms, I started thinking about my skills set and what I was passionate about and what would work with my bipolar disorder.
We have to be honest, and patient to find our passion. Being productive in society and having a job is a significant part of my treatment. When I am not working, I always find myself in a deep depression. I talk more about that in the video.
What has working been like for you living with bipolar disorder? Has it been difficult finding and/or maintaining a job? Please share your experience or do a response video and send it into info@healthyplace.com. Thanks! Hannah
